The research program of ACER is multidisciplinary, with faculty members from backgrounds in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering focusing on different research fields such as catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, and organic optoelectronics intelligent and advanced polymers and materials.

Area of Research:

Design and synthesis of advanced porous materials for gas/vapor separation applications.

Job description:

The Applied Chemistry and Engineering Research Centre of Excellence (ACER CoE) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University invites applications for a research assistant position to develop functional porous materials for gas or vapor separation applications. The position is open to individuals who hold a master's degree in material chemistry or related fields from a recognized University.

Period: CDD (1 year)

Key duties:

The potential candidate will carry out the following activities in the department of ACER CoE:

  • Synthesize inorganic and organic-inorganic hybrid porous physical adsorbents such as zeolites, silicas, MOFs, aluminas, porous oxides, etc.,

  • Selection and design of suitable organic and inorganic precursors needed to prepare made-to-order porous materials.

  • Characterize the different materials to be prepared by XRD, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques.

  • Measure the performance of porous materials in gas/vapor adsorption applications using static and dynamic adsorption instruments.

  • Design and implement a pilot-scale gas/vapor adsorption process, ensuring an efficient and smooth start-up.

  • Participate in writing manuscripts for publishing research results in peer-reviewed international journals.

Skills:

The candidate must have demonstrated a research activity in some of the following disciplinary fields:

  • Synthesis of porous or nonporous solid-state materials
  • Characterization of synthesized materials using different techniques (XRD, FTIR, NMR, TGA, ICP, BET, SEM, …

  • Experience in academic softwares and databases (RCSR database, Origin, X’pert highscore, Diamond, Materials studio, …) is a plus.
