The Global Phosphorus Institute is looking for a creative and imaginative Science Graphic Designer to become part of our dynamic team. The main duties are to produce visually captivating and scientifically precise graphics, images, illustrations, 3D animations and simulations. Artwork is created in collaboration with scientific experts, hence the Science Graphic Designer is instrumental in helping to effectively communicate complex scientific ideas to a wider audience. The role contributes to our global research, outreach and educational initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, design and edit graphics, illustrations, infographics and icons for print and online platforms.
- Create visually pleasing and scientifically accurate graphics, illustrations, and layouts for scientific audiences, including research papers, presentations, posters and banners.
-Generate artwork, 3D animations and simulations to illustrate scientific concepts and effectively communicate the ideas in outreach and educational materials, for both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
- Generate clear ideas, concepts, and designs of creative assets, through discussion with scientists, researchers and educators, to effectively translate scientific content into engaging visual representations.
- Maintain a well-organized archive of design materials, artifacts, portfolios and collections in hard copies and digital formats.
- Work collaboratively with other designers to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception.
- Stay in tune with current design trends, scientific progress, and emerging technologies to infuse the team with inventive, refreshing ideas.
- Coordinate with printers to ensure graphics are properly configured for printing, and with website managers for digital layouts and representations.
Profile recherché
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in graphic design or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Good knowledge of screen design tools like Sketch and web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- A strong portfolio that showcases aesthetic awareness, typography, layout design, vector graphics, and design problem solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to translate them into detailed and accurate visuals for papers, reports, digital media, illustrations, animations and simulations.
- Knowledge of copyright laws and image resolution requirements, scientific illustration techniques and practices.
- Able to receive, interpret, and implement constructive feedback from stakeholders into your design work.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain design decisions in words and writing.
- Interest and motivation to learn new tools and integrate emerging design trends into the work.
