Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Research Engineer to join our team in the chemical and biochemical industry. As a Research Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing our organization's research and development efforts related to the chemical and biochemical technologies. You will be responsible for conducting experiments, analyzing data, and developing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and product quality in our center’s fields of activities.
Responsibilities:
Conduct research and development activities focused on improving phosphate processing techniques, including beneficiation, flotation, and chemical treatment processes, byproducts recovery, metallurgy and electrochemistry.
Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of new processing methods and equipment.
Collect and analyze data obtained from experiments, interpret results, and prepare technical reports summarizing findings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process optimization opportunities, troubleshoot operational issues, and develop practical solutions.
Stay up-to-date with advancements in phosphate processing technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and drive innovation.
Collaborate with external research partners, academic institutions, and industry experts to leverage their expertise and insights in advancing our research goals.
Participate in scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot plant and provide technical support during the implementation of new processing technologies.
Assist in the development and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, adhere to laboratory protocols, and comply with relevant safety regulations.
Safely use lab equipment to perform samples analysis and experiments testing
Contribute to the preparation of the offers to secure budgets internally and externally
Contribute to intellectual property development through patent filings and publications in scientific journals.
Profile recherché
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, process engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Ph.D. is preferred.
Excellent communication skills in English
Solid understanding of basic liquid and solid and liquid and liquid separation processes.
Experience in conducting laboratory-scale experiments and operating analytical instruments for material characterization.
Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and process modeling tools/software.
Knowledge of process optimization techniques, experimental design, and statistical analysis.
Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations governing the laboratory work environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences in English and French languages.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Prior experience in the phosphate processing industry or related fields is a plus.
