Poste

Animal biology and production in Morocco are central to the country's economy and food security, with key livestock species including sheep, cattle, goats, and poultry, alongside working animals like donkeys and camels in rural areas. While these sectors support meat, milk, wool, and labor needs, they face significant challenges such as feed shortages, disease outbreaks, and the impacts of climate change, prompting a growing emphasis on sustainable practices, improved breeding, and modern management techniques.

The increased demand for innovative biological research has highlighted the importance of integrating bioinformatics, molecular biology, and cellular techniques to address key scientific challenges in animal production. By leveraging cutting-edge tools such as Whole Exome Sequencing (WES), RNA analysis, and CRISPR technology, researchers aim to enhance our understanding of complex biological systems and foster international collaboration in scientific advancement.

As a Research Assistant, the selected individual will contribute to pioneering studies in bioinformatics and molecular biology with a focus on animal cell biology to better understand the issues noted above. The role will involve analyzing data, conducting experiments, and contributing to research publications while supporting collaboration within an international and interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will:

  • Assist in the setup and execution of animal cell culture experiments.
  • Perform bioinformatics analyses, including Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) and RNA data analysis of animal samples.
  • Support the design and optimization of gRNA using bioinformatics tools for CRISPR-based studies.
  • Coordinate with international collaborators and foster partnerships to advance research projects.
  • Assist in the organization of scientific meetings, workshops, and collaborative sessions.
  • Analyze data, write technical reports, and contribute to research publications.
