Job Title: Research assistant in Biochemistry & Plant-based products
Duration Contrat: 12 Months Contract
Job description:
African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking applications for one year contract as a Research assistant in the field of Biochemistry & Plant-based products. The candidate should hold an engineering degree or a master’s degree (Bac +5) with a professional experience in Biochemistry & Plant-based products. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing scientific research in the laboratory and organize/carry out field work.
Key duties:
Successful candidate is expected to:
- Have a good experience in lab and field work.
- Assist in the organization and implementation of research activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and project objectives.
- Collect, support, and process samples for routine laboratory tests.
- Perform experiments, assays, and protocols with attention to detail.
- Have a strong experience in research in the fields of Biochemistry and Natural Product Chemistry/Plant-based Products.
- Have experience in statistical analysis and academic writing (Data analysis and interpretation).
- Contribute to general laboratory management and logistics, including equipment maintenance and procurement of supplies.
- Have strong French and English communication skills. Both verbal and written are required.

The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Laayoune City, south of Morocco. It constitutes a structure of applied research with a vision of solving real Local, Regional, and African agriculture challenges leveraging up-to-date science and technology. To implement its vision, ASARI puts a lot of emphasis on interdisciplinary research in sectors of strategic interest for the southern regions of Morocco and for the African continent such as:
- Plant & animal biotechnology (biosaline agriculture, animal production & nutrition, valorization of native aromatic & medicinal plants and algae, etc.)

Profile recherché
Criteria of the candidate:
- Applicants must have an Engineering or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Natural product chemistry, or Cell Biology from a well-recognized University.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry will be preferred.
- Strong laboratory skills are required, ideally with expertise in phytochemistry, pharmacognosy, and cell pharmacology.
- Ability to conduct field work.
- Ability to quickly learn new practical and theoretical concepts.
- A positive work attitude and ability to work both in a team and independently are essential.
