Poste
UM6P is seeking a new job position as Expert in Numerical Modeling, Reserves Assessment, Field Development and Geological Low Carbon Solutions. The position will be open until the selection of a candidate.
The candidate will be requested to:
- Data analytics :
- Analyse, reconcile and interpret subsurface data such as logging while drilling, wireline, routine and special laboratory core analysis.
- Maps, conceptual models and outcrops.
- Geological modeling
- Research and study the state of the art deterministic (such as kriging) and stochastic (such sequential simulation) geostastics techniques applied to mining, hydrogeology and oil&gas.
- Design and execute processes for numerical modeling in one, two and three dimension through the integration of data from data analytics. The goal is tow build two and three dimension models of geological properties including facies, porosity, permeability, water saturation mineral concentration. The processes include deterministic and stochastic standard techniques.
- Geomechanical modeling :
- Analyze daily drilling reports and events to extract key mechanical parameters and analyze offset wells in order to build a one dimension of full field geomechanics model for future developments.
- Use of some of the concepts described in geological modeling to distribute the geomechanics properties in the three dimesion subsurface model including the the overburden.
- Distribute, when needed, fracture models using image logs and laboratory measurments.
- Assess, if needed, the risk of events such as fault reactivation, fractures generation or induced seismicity.
- Reserves assessment :
- Generate scenarios of numerical models taking into account uncertainties and assess the volumetrics corresponding to each scenarios and key percentiles P90, P50, P10.
- Perform reserves assessment as defined by PRMS (Petroleum Resource Management System).
- Dynamic modeling Predictive development modeling :
- Use industry standards of reservoir engineering to forecast the hydrocarbon production. Standar techniques include decline curve analysis and numerical models.
- Generate multi-scenarios of production taking into account subsurface and facilities constraints.
- Field development plan :
- Integrate the subsurface, facility and economic parameters and uncertainties to generate optimal development plans
- Coupling of numerical models
- Design and use numerical coupling techniques to incorprate fluid flow, geochemical and geomechanics modeling.
- Geological Low Carbon:
- Perform research and execute projects related to the analysis of the potential of geological sequestration of CO2 using subsurface mineralization and/or permanent subsurface storage.
- Study the potential of geothermal resources combined or not with the development of hydrocarbon resources.
- Research and mentoring
- Participate in research activities within GSMI program and UM6P in general.
- Author or co-author scientific papers, for international conferences and magazines, in coordination with the researchers of UM6P, national and international partners. The scientific papers aim at promoting the technical level of UM6P worldwide.
- Supervise, mentor or coach undergraduate/graduate students.
- Project management
- Participate in the management activities of GSMI.
Profile recherché
Candidate profile:
The candidate must hold a PhD (in addition to a master is preferable) in Geosciences or Computer Sciences applied to Geosciences. He must have proven track records of leading or participating to industry projects related to geological modeling, reserves assessment, dynamic modeling, uncertainty assessment, experimental design and geological low carbon activities. Software programming (C, C++ or Python) is mandatory as the position requires the development of applications for data analysis and proof of concepts.
The proven track records include being leader/contributor to activities, speaker or moderator at international conferences or recognized experts by government bodies such as the US department of Energy of the European commission.
The candidate should also have publications (as main author or co-author) at international conferences or in specialized journals.
Skills and personal qualities of the candidate:
- Numerical modeling of subsurface associated with reserves assessment, production forecast and field development planning.
- Field development planning and uncertainty management.
- Project management.
- Fluency in English, French is mandatory. Ability of technical communication in other languages is a plus.
- Innovative, process oriented with strategic vision.
Team player as well as autonomy and agility.
